How Parents & Their Children Can Learn How to Save and Invest Together
Studies Have Shown that 70% of parents do not talk about money with their kids, and we believe that it is because they themselves feel uneducated. Instead of focusing on building wealth, minorities have focused more on spending. Black Americans have an annual spending power of $1.2 trillion, but unfortunately, their households only hold a median of $11,000 in wealth. Empify is looking to change this! The Empify MastHer Investing initiative is a special community. program that is focused on ending the generational debt and poverty cycle that exists in our minority community.
During Mother’s Day Weekend, at the beautiful Arts Ballroom is downtown Philadelphia, a group of 50+ mothers and their daughters (ages 10+) attended a lunch and learn where they each learned how to start investing. During an amazing 4-hour experience, the mothers and their daughters learned how to
Save and Invest It is one thing to spend money, but it’s another thing to help beginners learn how to invest and save even when they do not have a lot of money to start with. Instead of giving up on adults, let’s strengthen them so that they are strong enough to not only teach their kids how to build wealth, but to also do it with them. The event is filled with amazing food, group activities, education, and financial implementation all for each of the moms and their daughters.
During the Event
We dug deep into the fears, issues, and questions the women and girls had surrounding money. Together as a family, they each
- Learned the core basics to stock market and how it works
- Found key ways to spend less and invest more
- Participated in the “What Do I Want to Own” Investment Project
After learning the basics to the stock market, highlighting what companies they wanted to invest in, and researching their companies…
100% of the mothers opened Custodial Brokerage Accounts for their daughters
Each of the attendees received the tools and resources needed to, not only build wealth, but to actually believe that they can do it. Following the completion of the event, each mother and her daughter received additional resources and gifts that allowed them to better position themselves financially.

Through our Empify Special Community programs, we plan to help fix the wealth gap in America by providing financial education tools and resources not just for current generations, but also for generations to come.
